ABOUT CÓR FHÉILE NA SCOL
Our goal is to offer an opportunity for children to come and sing, play musical instruments, dance, recite poetry, perform pieces from musical theatre and perform gymnastic routines. The emphasis is on fun and participation. The aim is inclusivity and equality.
On May 23rd 2013 Cork City saluted its heroes at the 10th Lord Mayor’s Community and Voluntary Awards. Of the 700 unsung voluntary groups that were nominated for the award Cór Fhéile na Scol were the overall winners.
The Lord Mayor Cllr. John Buttimer thanked teachers for their commitment to Cork’s unique, non- competitive festival, founded in 1947 and praised the voluntary work of the organising committee.
The role Cór Fhéile na Scol plays in fostering a love of music and performance, promoting Irish culture, cultivating self-confidence and creating treasured memories for Cork School children was acknowledged and celebrated at the event.
